I frequent Chris Brogan's blog, which you can find on our Blogroll. On Monday he provided his free e-book on Personal Branding, which you can download here. Whether you're an independent planner or vendor looking to increase your visibility in the industry, or even if you work for a large corporation and are just trying to stand out from the rest, either in your work or personal life, I think this short e-book is worth a read. Seriously, it's 15 pages, will take you 20 minutes to read and shares some interesting insights and valuable tidbits.
Brogan makes some valid points, such as creating a Web site with easy-to-read fonts and an easy means of commenting. Sounds obvious, right? But how many Web site or blogs have you seen that are just too hard to read (reverse-type blogs, with white type on black background, I'm talking to you) or require you to "subscribe" before you can leave a comment (sorry, not going to waste my time)? Since he's a social media expert, many of Brogan's tips fall in the realm of online methods. However, he does make mention of ways to increase your self esteem or show off your confidence in a positive way when it comes to face-to-face meetings and he encourages you to be yourself. While some of his promotional tips make me tired just reading about them (be on Facebook, be on Twitter, get a Digg account), let alone doing them, he really knows what he's talking about and he really knows how valuable all these tools can be.
Brogan writes simply and succinctly, and you may finish reading with a more can-do attitude than you had before. Take a look, and let us (and Chris) know what you think.
