Happy August! If you haven't yet, please take 10 minutes to complete our annual State of the Industry survey. We want to hear your thoughts! Here's your news:
+ Have you ever wanted to be on A Prairie Home Companion? The radio show is holding a duet contest and the winners get to sing on the Oct. 20 show!
+ Are the Olympics bad for tourism? Seems London is empty in some areas because people don't want to risk the crowds. This reminds me of Australia's campaign after the Sydney Olympics, when tourism fell. "Where the bloody hell are you?"
+ The New York Times has a nice slideshow featuring The Bachelor Farmer. The restaurant celebrates its one year anniversary this weekend with a block party.
+ The Radisson that sits in the middle of the U of M's East Bank is undergoing a boutique makeover, reopening in October as the Commons Hotel.
+ The first annual Minnesota Food Truck Fair takes place on Sunday.
+ Looks like Doug Flicker has been chosen to run the Lake Nokomis concession stand, called Sandcastle, and featuring upscale picnic fare. (A few more meetings need to be held to make this official.)
